Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about buying, selling, and staying safe on SLO Market. Still stuck? Contact us.
What is SLO Market?
SLO Market is San Luis Obispo County’s local marketplace. Buyers and sellers connect directly to buy, sell, and give away items nearby — keeping commerce local.
Is SLO Market free to use?
Browsing and creating an account are free. Listing fees or payment processing fees may apply depending on how you sell. Check the sell flow for current options.
How do I sell something?
Sign in, go to Sell Something, add photos and details, choose a category and city, then publish. Keep your listing accurate and follow our prohibited items and food policies.
How do payments work?
Paid checkout on SLO Market is processed securely through Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe — we never store full credit card numbers. Sellers connect a Stripe account to receive payouts for online sales. Always complete payment through official marketplace checkout; don’t send money outside the platform for paid listings.
Where should I meet a buyer or seller?
Prefer a public, well-lit place. Inspect items before you pay or hand them over. Never share unnecessary personal information. See our Safety Guidelines for more tips.
Can I sell food or produce?
Yes, if you follow our Food & Produce Seller Policy. SLO Market does not inspect or certify food products — sellers are responsible for following applicable rules.
What can’t I list?
Weapons, illegal items, and other prohibited categories are not allowed. See Safety Guidelines and the prohibited items list for details. Violations may result in removal or account suspension.
How do I report a problem?
Use the report options on listings, profiles, or reviews for scams, harassment, or policy violations. For account or site issues, use the Contact Us form.
How long do listings stay up?
Active listings stay live for a set period (about 30 days) and may need renewal after that. You can edit or remove your listing anytime from your dashboard.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
Use Forgot password on the sign-in page. We’ll email a reset link if an account exists for that address. Check spam if you don’t see it within a few minutes.
